Cannabis retail businesses in the city of Battle Creek can offer expanded hours starting later this month.On Tuesday, the Battle Creek City Commission voted unanimously to amend the city's marijuana ordinance and allow cannabis retail businesses to operate until midnight. Under the city's original ordinance, cannabis businesses were barred from operating between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.The new ordinance will take effect Nov. 11 and comes after cannabis business owners in the city raised concerns over losing potential customers to pot shops in neighboring Emmett Charter Township, which allows adult use and medical retail facilities to remain open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 p.
