BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – There will be a lot of orange in I-94 on Calhoun County as the Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $160 million to repave 10 miles of I-94 and replace or repair 17 bridges. Type A drivers will need to take a chill pill as three years of construction work will take place between Helmer Road (Exit 95) in Battle Creek and 17 1/2 Mile Road in Marshall Township. Work starts this week with crews building temporary crossovers and bridges in Battle Creek. MDOT has announced that I-94 traffic will be shifted into the right lane and outside shoulder in each direction between Helmer Road and 17 1/2 Mile Road in Battle Creek which will require single-lane closures on the interstate on Wednesday and Thursday.
